Fall time in Alaska! Kenai, Denali, Anchorage!

It's been a busy busy month in August. Pretty much did nothing but sleep and work, honestly. Went by really quickly! Working all the time!
Where I spent all my time!

Typical coffee run

My favorite manager Kendra left, went back to Texas! Going to miss her a lot! Always a fun time at work with her.

Fall is definitely here in Alaska though, that's for sure!
Pumpkin Spice Latte!!
Planes flying overhead

My favorite lake again
Saturday September 1:
I finally managed to get a weekend off and went down south with my awesome buddy Mikey! So excited to get out of Anchorage and experience more of Alaska!!

Worked at 7am and got off work and headed south to Kenaia peninusula! Have had the most amazing day! Road trip with awesome music!!
Fall is well on its way!
Ready?
Go!!
Went to Mikey's friends cabin on the lake, road four wheelers went mudding, shot a potato gun, had a campfire!! Definitely in Alaska!

Out in the wild! Gorgeous scenery! Road back into town, saw a huge heard of caribou!!! Definitely don't see that everyday!
Grazing the field
Only in Alaska
Had dinner at a Mexican restaurant, stayin at some cabins on Kenia beach, out for a few drinks tonight to celebrate the weekend and not having to work for once!
What a view

Sept 2, 2012:
Went to Homer Alaska!! Saw a jellyfish, sea otter, and a giant moose!! Awesome little town!! Was about to close down part of it in two weeks since tourist season is about over and winter is on its way!
Homer, AK

Almost the end of the season there

Typical jumping photo!

Being silly

Such a neat town

Mmmmm. Coffee!

Loved all the stones
Enjoying Homer
Went to Salty Dawg Saloon! Awesome bar, dollar bills EVERYWHERE!
Awesome bar

Definitely a popular spot!
Had dinner at Mikey's sister's house
Saw three moose during dinner in their backyard!! I of course was EXTREMELY excited by this news! Got out of my seat fast and ran to the window! Everyone else being Alaskan and having grown up with it weren't that impressed at all.
These signs are EVERYWHERE. Moose crossing!
Moose!
Amazes me every time.
Returned back to Anchorage and guess what I did? Work work work.

I have been planning more trips though! I can't be in Alaska all summer and only see Anchorage.

Jason was home one random night from tour (It's not often he is in Anchorage). So we took a little roadtrip through Hatcher's Pass one night. It was snowing once we got up higher in the mountains!
SNOW!
Great views as always
Jason in the Jeep!
Working more as always and hanging out with friends. Mt. McKinley can be seen all the way from Anchorage (over 150 miles away) on a really clear day. Went up to the concierge lounge one day at work to take a look at it.
Mt. McKinely over 150 miles away!
Mmmm!
I kinda love coffee

I agree!
Had a crazy crazy windstorm come through Anchorage one night. Everyone was talking about it the night before, I slept through it all.

There were 100mph winds in parts of town! Insanity night at work that night apparently. I came into work, just had gotten power after the hotel was out of power for over 7 hours. Needless to say that morning of work was very interesting. We were checking out people manually. Definitely wasn't expecting to come into work expecting that! The giant "A" and "T" on our building flew off in the middle of the night too and nearly hit a guest!
Well, they warned me!

Uh oh.. missing some letters!!
Found one!!
Megan and I hung out quite often all summer! Going to miss her lots!
SunKist Shots

September 15:
Going to Denali National Park tomorrow!! Staying for two nights with my best buddy Jason!!

Worked in the morning and as soon as I got off work in the afternoon we were off North! Went to McKinley Princess lodge, absolutely amazing! Had such a fun road trip drive up there!

Fall in Alaska.

Ran into people Jason knew so we all hung out and had a lot of fun.
Acting like a moose?
Ugly face expressions! Haha!!

September 17:
Good morning!

Pretty awesome sign
This turned out to be probably my favorite day in Alaska so far!!! Road trip, sun came out and was the most gorgeous day! We were we expecting rain all weekend!
Amazing views after amazing views, after amazing views
We went into Denali National Park!!! Can't explain how beautiful it was!
TURN LEFT!

We made it!!

Epic

Fall!

So so pretty!
This could never get old
Staying at the Denali lodge, top floor, gorgeous room with spectacular views of the river and mountains! I even saw a bald eagle today!!
Denali Princess Lodge

Lobby

Great resort
Also got a giant suitcase for super cheap! The stores across the street were closing for winter and it was the last few days they were open so they were trying to get rid of everything!

Road tripped around more, the scenery never gets old. Then Jason and I were north of Denali at a town called Healy, not far from the Stampede trail! Aka near my favorite movie/book ever- Into The Wild! Long story short, I got to see the bus and take pics with it! Wanted to do that all summer, but didnt think I'd be able to!! So so great!!  Jason just casually asked if I wanted to see the bus, I freaked out! Thought he was playing a joke on me!!

The Magic Bus!!
I've always wanted a pic like this!!
Alexander Supertramp/Chirstopher McCandless

Inside the bus

And again

Driving the bus!

I was so excited!
And to add to my great day, we drove all the way down the Stampede Trail and saw a giant momma moose and her baby!! I took so many photos today that still don't do Alaska justice.

Endless Beauty
Stampede Trail!

Little roadtrip!

View near our room
Epic
Being artistic
Jamming out to music having a blast enjoying the scenery! Driving down the road and I didn't even notice it at all, but Jason saw a giant moose RIGHT next to the road and slammed on his brakes!! Was HILARIOUS!

MOOSE!

I love Alaska!
And yes, I had to get a photo with the moose!

Most gorgeous state I've ever been to. Had dinner at 49 State restaurant in Healy and had the Supertramp drink which was lemonade and blackberry vodka! It's been so great to get outside Achorage and experience more of Alaska!

September 18:
Drove back to Anchorage and laughed the entire way. It snowed on our way back at one part.
Snow this early?
It also managed to rain like crazy too! This semi drove by and literally splashed a tsnuami wave on our car. We were so shocked and not expecting it, we literally laughed for over 10 minutes about it, probably out of fear. One of those moments where you had to be there!

Nearly back to Anchorage outside of Palmer (where Sara Palen grew up. And yes I saw her house), we stopped at a place very famous for their ice cream! I got a Chai Tea milkshake on the way home in Houston. DELICIOUS!!!

After that fun much needed trip, I was back in Anchorage working as always.
Megan and I went to Simon and Seaforts happy hour after work one day. Really great. I even tried crab artichoke drip which was pretty good! I very very rarely eat seafood!
View from my favorite table at Simon & Seaforts!

Drinks with Megan
Working a lot as always! Jason was back in town for one night again and was staying at the Captain Cook hotel, so we had a little hotel party with Jason and Megan!

My time in Alaska is winding down! Starting to pack up and trying to sell my scooter! How does an entire summer go by do quickly? Onto the next adventure!! Entire month of October planned with trips to see my amazing friends and family.

It snowed my last weekend in town! Last day in September and we got 6 inches in parts of Anchorage!! I woke up to the roof and cars covered with snow, not cool Alaska!
SNOW in September!!
This was all in the midst of me trying to sell my scooter the last few days I was there!! Who is going to buy a scooter when it's snowing and winter is well on it's way up in Alaska!?!?

September 30, 2012:
Last few weeks have gone by so quickly! Getting all packed up, sending boxes home, and working a few more shifts before boarding my flight to Vancouver with Jason to hang out with Lisa! Having dinner with friends tonight!

What an amazing Sunday it turned out to be! I SOLD MY SCOOTER!!! Can't believe it! One less thing for me to have to worry about and some extra cash money for my flights!!! Woo!!! Going to miss 'ole Ank!! Can't believe someone bought him right before winter, let alone when it snowed that weekend! Weight off my shoulder though!

Holy guacamole!!! After an amazing dinner with friends and lots of laughs, we got a text from someone saying the Northern Lights (Auroa Borealis) was out tonight!! I freaked out and got super excited!!!! Jason, Mikey and I went up to Flattop Mountain to check them out around 11:30p,, although we both worked super early the next day! Went up there, a lot of cars and I could faintly see a streak of green in the sky. Keep in mind this is the end of September and also in Anchorage, so seeing this is quite rare!!

Waited about ten minutes and WOW!! It really started to pick up and  become much more vibrant. I was literally jumping up and down I was so excited. I can't even explain how beautiful it was. The lights were literally dancing across the sky, coming and going. It was so surreal. I couldn't believe I was actually seeing it as I never expected to since I was only up here for the summer. I unfortunately didn't have my good camera with me as it was spur of the moment, but WOW! Definitely lucky! Couldn't fall asleep at all after seeing that!

This was a picture of exactly how it looked last night and was taken by someone else last night as well, shame I didn't have my own camera with me, but WOW. Never thought I would see that!
Absolutely surreal. I thought I was seeing things!

Woke up at 6 am for my last two days of work!! So hard to believe!  Only one more day of work tomorrow, then need to completely pack and get everything ready!

October 2, 2012:
Going to Simon and Seaforts for happy hour after work with coworkers for my last day here! Can't believe it at all! My last shift was great and three coworkers came out for a drink after work to say goodbye!

Oct 3, 2012:
Last day in Alaska!!! Packed like crazy and had to go to Snow City cafe on my last day! Mikey bought me an Alaska Grown hoodie as a little going away present! So nice of him!

My favorite breakfast spot in town!
Then went to Marriott to say goodbye to everyone and then to Dark Horse for one last DELICIOUS mocha!
Dark Horse Coffee- I already miss you!
Heading to the airport soon!!! Ahhh! This day went by so quickly!

Jason rented a car and managed to do a little fender bender! We were trying to fix it in the midst of sitting on our suitcases to get them all packed!

Headed to the airport, got all the way there and hadn't filled up the rental with gas! Made a loop, filled up with gas and returned the cars, no questions asked. Phew! Keep in mind we were already running a bit late, giving ourselves like 45 minutes to get checked in and through security. Had our giant bags with our summer lives packed in it!! My bag was a healthy 47 pounds and Jason's was a little overweight, 53 lbs! Helped him out and headed to our flight that left in less than an hour. Still had enough time for a very quick margarita before our flight though!

Margaritas before the flight!
Ready to go!
Time to officially say goodbye to Alaska! It was quite the summer, definitely unforgettable. Loved the fall there, although definitely a short lived fall! Was happy to get the opportunity to get out of Anchorage during my time there and see more of Alaska. What a beautiful state. Glad I got to see it at such a young age, as most people visiting there are 50+ and going on cruises

Already nearly to Seattle and having fun convos with people on the plane.

Our transfer to Vancouver!~

 Next stop Vancouver, Canada!
